Aran:

The Valley of Valleys

The Val d'Aran is a picturesque valley nestled in the Spanish Pyrenees, bordering France. Renowned for its unique Atlantic-like characteristics, it boasts lush forests with vibrant greenery and stunning flora.

Beyond its breathtaking landscape, the valley captivates with distinctive architecture, rich history, exceptional cuisine, and its native language, Aranese (aranés).

With over 30% of its terrain soaring above 2,000 meters, its 33 villages are scattered along a span of 30 kilometers (less than 20 miles) between Tredós (in the East) and Canejan (in the West).

"Aran" means valley in Basque, therefore "Val d’Aran" (in Aranese) translates to valley of valleys. This is why, for the locals, the Val d'Aran is simply known as the Valley.

This region is home to the Pyrenees' most exclusive ski resort, Baqueira Beret, a favored winter retreat of the Spanish royal family since the 1980s. Baqueira offers 165 kilometers of skiable terrain across 114 slopes, ranging in altitude from 1500 meters to 2610 meters.

Pepa spent her entire middle and high school years in this enchanting valley. Many of her most cherished memories are set against its scenic corners.

Her enduring connection with the valley's hidden gems has persisted over the years. She returns to the serene ambiance of Val d'Aran at least twice annually.

"Skiing and hiking these mountains are essential for me to reconnect with my true self. I surrender to the air, the snow, the cuisine, the trees, the people, the gentle sounds of water in the rivers... and that's when the magic truly unfolds."

Miquel enjoyed Val d’Aran as a visitor. However, when Pepa unveiled "her" Valley, the experience reached an entirely new, awe-inspiring level.
